07/09/2010 [GB] Congratulations to the Mountsorrel Castle 2nd XI who have won their league with two weeks to spare. Also, there is now only a mathmatical chance of Langtons overhauling the first team who have a 36 point lead and a game in hand with two matches left in the season. |
04/09/2010 [GB] Another comfortable win by the 2nd XI today means that when the results are in for other fixtures, they may be Division winners with two games in hand. League table and 2nd XI results and averages have been updated. |
22/08/2010 [GB] League tables and results updated.
Mountsorrel Castle 2nd XI played an enthralling game against Loughborough Carillion in difficult conditions, to come out the winners by 70 runs. Batting first on a damp pitch, Mountsorrel were at one stage 64-6 and the game looked over. Seb Maley (67) and Hardeep Singh (31) however had other ideas and together crafted a partnership of 96 with Maley finally finding some late season form on a tricky pitch. With some huge sixes at the end from Big Jay Navsaria (20), the total of 187 looked much more useful than it had an hour before. Then, in a mirror image of the Mountsorrel innings, the Carillion top order were blown away by Navsarias opening spell of 6-46, and at 50-8, once again the game looked over. However there was still some lusty hitting to come at the bottom of the order by C Flitten (46*) & D Patel (20) but by then the result (really) was inevitable and Flitten was left stranded in sight of his half century when the last wicket fell. That such an exciting game was crafted in the conditions available is a credit to both sides. |
12/08/2010 [GB] 1st XI results now up to date as well. |

01/08/2010 [GB] Mountsorrel lost to Barrow today in the Everards Junior Cup Final at Syston Town. Barrow batted first and compiled 198 all out, Mountsorrels Sam Skeete taking 3-20. The target proved too much for Mountsorrel who lost wickets at regular intervals, with the only significant partnership being between Shabaz Hassan (43) and Sukha Singh (17). Shabaz continued to bat with the tail and briefly threatened to take Mountsorrel from 118-8 to an unlikely victory but in the end it proved too much. Photos from the match can been seen in the relevant section. |

Hinckley were restricted to 140 from their 40 overs with Mountsorrel knocking them off with 17 overs to spare. Olsen Murrain contributing with a fine half century for Mountsorrel. A good all round team effort sees Mountsorrel Castle in their first final in any form of the game for some time against the winners of Barrow 2 Vs Kibworth 3. |

Sukha and Kulwinder Singh are the next best with averages in the mid 30s. In the bowling department, Derrick Turner is the clubs top bowler currently, with 25 wickets at under 11 runs a piece. |
18/07/2010 [GB] MCCC under 10s enjoyed a successful tournament today at Grace Road with wins over Twycross and LCC All Stars. All eight players were at the top of their game, which was more than could be said for Leicestershire CC as they slumped to a toothless defeat against Warwickshire CC that put them out of the FP20 playoff picture. |

Prices go up after that point so get your cheques in to Carol and John ASAP.26/04/2010 [Gary Brown] A good start to the league season and a thrilling finish for the Sunday XI. On Saturday the second XI achieved a winning draw against Oakham thanks to a superb 112 from Tahir Tarvaz. Tarvaz drove the ball with timing and accuracy that no other player came close to on the day. Oakham were able to eke out the draw thanks to 60 from Cooper. The Sunday XI played a fantastic fixture against Winshill where the fortunes of both sides swung repeatedly. From 70-7, Mountsorrel managed to compile 163, largely thanks to a personal best from Danny Hill (64*) who was ably assisted by Guy Power (26). A steady reply from Winshill looked to be in trouble when they fell to 124-8, but Moore (70*) steered the tail to the target with 3 balls to spare. Meanwhile the First XI scored an impressive 1st win over Barrow Town, Rozeen Khaleel returning to form with 91. More details and scoredcard to follow. | 19/04/2010 [Gary Brown] It was not the auspicious start to the New Era at Mountsorrel that the players were hoping for this week. Both pre-season friendlies were lost over the weekend. Quality individual performances were there from Guru Singh (5-51), Niffy Razzak (79), Tahir Tarvaz (55) & Guy Power (3-8). However in the end, both Braunstone and Gotham proved too much for the squad. The club now relies on the Tues friendly against Gotham for a quick turnaround in fortune. | 14/04/2010 [Gary Brown] Scorecards are now in for the Spring Tour of Provence. Phil Stanhopes boys gave those Frenchies a good thrashing, in particular equalling the ground record score at Midi and bowling out Entrecasteaux for only 40. | 03/04/2010 [Phil Stanmore] The MCCC Spring Tour to Provence has got off to a promising start. In the fixture versus Riviera CC the team scored 230 for 3 from 31 overs before the rain caused the match to be abandoned. Dave Chapman was 106* and Luke Gunn 61* at the end. | 01/04/2010 [Gary Brown] The MCCC Touring side embarks this Easter on a short series against teams on the French Riviera. Fitz has been helping the club at nets since the start of the year and will soon be passing on his decades of cricketing knowledge on the field and he takes on the dual roles of Coach and Player Manager. | 23/03/2010 [Gary Brown] The fixtures page has been updated with more teams and the Evening XI fixtures have now been added. | 28/02/2010 [Gary Brown] Large website update today! Frank Holder is newly elected Saturday 1st XI captain, Amit Barcha is the new helmsman of the Saturday 2nd XI, Phil Stanhope is leading the first campaign of the Evening XI, while Derek Turner will retain leadership of the Sunday XI. Stanhope said: “Quality players have joined the club so we will be challenging to win all three leagues and the various cups entered. The Second XI had the best of it, finishing a comfortable second in their division. But for the league re-structuring, promotion to D6 would have been a formality. The First XI had a disappointing season culminating in the drop to D5. Full averages and stats will appear here following the End of Season presentations in early October. | |
